The great period of “Austin Cool” left its marks all over this town. Everywhere you look you can see some amazing art or legendary club where something amazing happened back in the day. The famous Austin Postcard mural, “Greetings From Austin,” at West Annie and Congress is one of those landmarks that lets us know what Austin was like before the big change. It is an artistic message from the little city of 1997 to the gleaming metropolis of today. Austin has always been a welcoming city.

The city that gave the world Slacker and Stevie Ray Vaughn has more than its share of natural beauty to boast about. Billy Brakhage and Rory Skagen, local Austin artists in the late nineties, chose to celebrate what makes this city beautiful with a series of iconic images of the city and its surrounding. Though they were careful to show the beauty of nature in their mural, the artists concentrate on the iconic landmarks of the day; the Texas Capitol, the University of Texas Tower, and a giant Texas flag blowing in the wind. Texas pride has always been a theme here in Austin. This is the capital of Texas, and it loves the job.The mural has adorned the wall of Roadhouse Relics since 1997, and it has withstood sixteen years in the Texas sun in fine shape. The neighborhood around the mural has transformed completely in the time since the mural was painted, and the city has doubled in size since the paint was fresh. However, just like the city, the mural retains its funky charm. The contrast between the blue and the beige is still fresh and sharp, and the weathering of detail only calls attention to the strength of the shapes and the silhouettes.

At the time the two artists were part of the legendary art partnership called Skagen-Brakhage. They did a lot of great street art around town, including a lot of famous murals on Congress and the Drag. “Greetings from Austin” would prove to be one of their most enduring creations. West Annie and South Congress is an extremely visible corner, and all the crowds ranging up and down Congress from Oltorf to the river get to see and enjoy their work. It is especially fun for tourists and posed photos. If you want to look like you just stepped out of a postcard for the greatest vacation ever, then head down to Roadhouse Relics and get your picture taken.

In the past decade, Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas has flourished. With ever-increasing enrollment and a growing endowment, the school has made great strides in furthering its mission to provide students with a world-class education. This success is due in no small part to the institution’s president, Dr. Larry Earvin, whose tremendous contributions are celebrated in a new video by MindBOX Productions.

Using interviews with both faculty and students, the video reveals Dr. Earvin’s tireless dedication to Huston-Tilloston as he guides his beloved university through the opening chapter of the 21st century. Since 2000, when Dr. Earvin became the historically black school’s fifth president, he has cultivated a diverse and intelligent student body by establishing top notch academic programs. Over the course of his thirteen year tenure he oversaw the launch of the Fulbright scholars program as well as the W.E.B. DuBois Honors Program, which provides particularly gifted and driven students with specialized honors courses and renewable four-year scholarships. Earlier this year he launched a scholarship-supported Adult Degree Program with accelerated courses offered on a flexible schedule to allow working adults to continue their education.

In the video, students praise Dr. Earvin for his compassion and kindness. “If I need anything, any resource, he’s very accessible, I can get to him,” says student Korey Lewis. Meanwhile, his colleagues marvel at his intelligence and forthright vision. They laud his ability to secure the capital investments and scholarship funding. “These scholarships enable us to recruit some of the best students around the world,” says Dr. Steven Edmond, Dean of the School of Business and Technology. “He is responsible, truly, for making the school…one of excellence.”

Prior to joining Huston Tilloston, Dr. Earvin was the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Clark Atlanta University. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from Emory University, a Master of Science from Georgia State University, a Bachelor of Arts from Clark College and a certificate from Harvard University’s Cambridge Institute of Educational Management. He is the chairman of the Southern Association of Colleges and the recipient of the Texan of the Year Award for Higher Education in 2002.

MindBOX Productions is a video production company based in Austin, Texas. The company’s creative team has more than 20 years of combined experience in the film industry and has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from television commercials to testimonials to corporate video productions.

Video can seem like an engaging way to drive visitors to your site and keep them there, but is there good evidence that this is really the case? Why should site owners make an effort to include video?

1. Of the top 100 search engine results, 70 percent are videos. This means that your site is much more likely to come up on the first few pages of results if you include video.

2. As many as 52 percent of consumers make purchase decisions based on watching videos that demonstrate products. This means that when most consumers are deciding between two products and one does not have a video, the product with a video will be at an advantage.

3. Not only do consumers prefer to make purchase decisions with the help of video but video-watching consumers are 85 percent more likely to buy something. This means that customers who watch videos are better quality customers, and including videos on your site will drive them to your business.

4. Customers enjoy watching videos as well, and they tend to return to videos for more information or entertainment with 66 percent watching them more than once. This suggests that while videos should be attention-grabbing and contain easily understood information, there’s also room to include information that may be a bit more complex or require more than one viewing to fully engage with.

5. After watching a video about a product, customers are 144 percent more likely to purchase that product. This means that customers visiting a product page with a video and one without are almost certain to purchase the product from the page that includes a video.

6. A web page that includes a video is 53 percent more likely to be a search result on the first page of Google. Therefore, it will be one of the first sites a visitor clicks through to while searching for a product. Without a video on your site, the customer may never see it in the search results at all.

7. Convergence goes up 30 percent for retail sites that include video. This, too, translates to more sales for the site.

8. Americans love to watch videos online. In fact, in February 2013, 128 million Americans watched more than 33 billion videos. There is little doubt that videos will make your site more popular.

9. Video can also be used as tech support and cut down on the overall cost of support. Incorporating video led to a 5 percent reduction in service calls for Dell.

10. It’s projected that by 2014, 50 percent of Internet traffic will be accounted for by online video. This means that more and more people will be going online simply to view video, and you need to position your brand so that it’s one of the videos people will want to view.

Clearly, online video is critical to drawing visitors to your site, persuading them to purchase products and ensuring that they return for more. With these reasons in place, you can’t afford to not include video on your site.

There are several bands and individual performers to pay particular attention to this year, starting wtih Tom Odell, British singer and songwriter. Odell will release his album ‘Long Way Down’ in April of this year. Another young British singer with great potential is Dan Croll. Croll’s catchy lyrics and smooth vocals are on display in songs like ‘Compliment Your Soul’ and ‘From Nowhere.’
Some of the bands garnering attention include Atlas Genius from Adelaide Australia, and Royal Canoe. Royal Canoe features incredible vocals and interesting instrumental combinations. Kodaline, a rock band from Dublin, has said much of their inspiration comes from the Beatles, Sam Cooke, and Springsteen.

The following includes a schedule of different venues, performers, and performance times throughout the festival.

Tuesday, March 12th

The SXSW 2013 Movies You Need to See

South By Southwest, also known as SXSW, is the largest cultural festival of its kind in the entire world. The cultural mecca of the western US of Austin, Texas is the setting for the group of music, interactive and film festivals. SXSW got its start in 1987 and has grown in size year to year.

The organizers of South By Southwest schedules trade shows, conferences, festivals and other entertainment events in March of every calendar year. Each branch of the SXSW is focused on finding the newest trends and stars of the future. The music festival usually features over 2000 performers. The interactive festival debuts and displays the latest technical creations, inventions and ideas. The SXSW film festival was added as a component to the festival in 1994. It has since been a breeding ground for new filmmakers and a coming out party for hot young directorial talent.

The 2013 South By Southwest Film Festival will be held this year from March 8th to March 16th. There will be 240 films screening during the festival in several different categories. The categories include; Narrative Feature, eight films selected who will make their World Premiere at the festival. Documentary Feature, featuring full length documentary films also making their World premiere. Headliners, a separate category that feature bigger established stars with more of a Hollywood red carpet presentation. Narrative Spotlight and Documentary Spotlight, a second category for each film genre that includes the best films not selected for the main prize. Visions, a special category that honors more artistic cinema. 24 Beats Per Second, that focuses on film presentations of musicians. SXGlobal, which features other presentations from international film makers. Festival Favorites, a showcase for national and international winners from other film festivals. Special Events, one of the more hotly anticipated events each year that usually features a surprise TV pilot or web series. Midnights, this is a showcase for horror, comedies, and controversial afterhours fare. In addition to the full feature films, there are also separated categories for short narrative films, documentaries, and animated films. There are also categories that are very unique to SXSW. There is an annual category, Texas High School Shorts, which invites young Texas native filmmakers to present their own works.

There are many must see films in this year’s SXSW film festival. The true movie fans will attend as many screenings as they can during the duration of the festival. If you can’t make the festival this year, take note of the films that end up as Grand Jury Winners. The grand prize winners for 2012 were Jay Bulger’s documentary feature, “Beware Mr.Baker.” The narrative feature grand prize winner was “Gimme the Loot” by director Adam Leon. Other great films to win the Grand prize over the years have included “Natural Selection”, “Luck”, “Live Free or Die”, “Roller Coaster”, “Wild Flowers”, “Wellness”, “Low Self Esteem Girl”, Dragonslayer”, “Full Battle Rattle”, “Flag Wars”, “The Life and Times of John C. Holmes” and “Target Shoots First”. You can still find these great stories and documentaries on DVD so that you can enjoy some of the great films that make up the history of SXSW.

The SXSW festival has long uncovered hidden talented filmmakers and documentarians. For example, the writer and star of HBO’s hit show “Girls”, Lena Dunham won the grand prize for her 2010 narrative feature, “Tiny Furniture”. Other great young writers, directors, and stars have won awards over the years. Familiar names such as Ari Gold, Barry Blaustein, Tony Shalhoub, Eli Craig, Bob Odenkirk, Jay Chandrasekhar, Matthew Lillard and Jay Duplass all hold Judges Awards for various projects.

There are different things that make must see films for SXSW festival attendees. Every visitor is there to view and experience a different type of cinema. They love of music is a common theme amongst most SXSW devotees who like to attend both the music and film festivals. This makes the 24 Beats Per Second Category a perennial fan favorite. This year there are several must see features to put on your list. Just like different bands draw and speak to different audiences the Musical films represented at SBSW is just as varied for many different tastes.

Rock and Punk rock fans will get to see an intimate following of one of their
favorite bands, Green Day, in “Cuatro” by director Tim Wheeler. This will follow the legendary band and chronicle not only the making of their musical trilogy but also goes into their conceptualizing and writing the notes and lyrics. Green Day is also the subject of a film being presented by Doug Hamilton. “Broadway Idiot” takes you behind the scenes and curtains of Broadway with Billie Joe Armstrong to document the translation of their iconic rock music into a Broadway hit. It also explores how this transition has affected their aging fan base.

Rap and Hip-Hop fans will get to see Snoop Dogg like they have never seen him before. He is followed by director Andy Capper in his quest for spirituality, his discovery of Rastafari, and his own battle against himself and his legacy in “Reincarnated”.

A must see for fans of horns and blues as well as fans of wonderfully engaging storytelling will mark “Brothers Hypnotic” as a must-see. Reuben Atlas camera and direction tells a story about a true family. This includes the sons of jazz superstar, Phil Cohran. All eight members of The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are sons of the against the grain jazz legend. All eight men struggle with their own thoughts on their dad’s values and stances. Their struggles tell a story that you’ll want to follow until the end.

A favorite of the music fans of Austin is the Music Video competition. The days of music videos in mainstream media seemed to wither away with MTV’s conversion to reality television. The artistic representation in this category has produced some of the best work at this and any other festivals. Past years have had videos of stars like Badly Drawn Boy, Thom Yorke, New Pornographers, Thunderheist, Hollerado and Dandy Warhols take home top prizes. This year’s crop of music videos promises great art and the discovery of new music and new artists. Some of the nominated videos feature songs by Keaton Henson, Wild Belle, Killer Mike, Lushlife, Slugabed, Flying Lotus, Daniel Bedingfield, Modeselektor, Foster the People, The Shoes, Willow, HEALTH and ten other exciting musical acts.

There are plenty of people who travel down to Austin every March to go star searching. There will be plenty of Hollywood’s established stars on hand this year at SXSW. You’ll see them at the screenings and on the screens in several categories.

Native Texan, Richard Linklater, brings back Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke for the third story in his story of Jesse and Celine who met on a train in 1995’s “Before Sunrise”. This film was followed up set nine years later in “Before Sunset” in a film that was set in real time. The characters reconnected in Paris for an afternoon of conversation and discovery. That film left off with Jesse reconsidering his marriage while leaving Celine at the airport. This year at SXSW, Linklater will show Jesse and Celine eighteen years after their first meeting. The diehard fans of the story will not miss a chance to show what has happened since we last saw the pair.
The Midnighters of SXSW is always a place where fans flock to see their favorite stars. Rob Zombie will display his US premier of his next mentally twisted gore fest titled, “The Lords of Salem.” Zombie uncovers the minds of evil doers like few have ever done and he appears to outdo himself with this latest effort. The story is set in Salem, Mass and follows a popular female radio deejay, played by Sheri Moon Zombie. She receives a mysterious delivery that brings out the demonic and evil past of the city of Salem.

Popular festival sweetheart, Abigail Breslin, will show up in the World Premiere of “Haunter”. This film has Breslin starring as Lisa Johnson, a girl who is just one day shy of her 16th birthday. She remains stuck in that day in a nightmarish version of “Groundhog Day” as she relives that day over and over as the day that her and her family was killed in 1985. Somehow since then, Lisa feels a connection with another young soul, who happens to be a modern day teen that is very much alive.

The Headliner category is also a favorite for star watchers too. The highly anticipated Steve Carell comedy “The Adventures of Burt Wonderstone” will make its World Premiere at the festival this year. It’s a must see for high concept comedy fans and features a great supporting cast of Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini and an out of control Jim Carrey. Carrey co-stars as a Kris Angel type street musician who pushes Vegas Show magicians played by Carell and Buscemi out of the spotlight.

“Spring Breakers” is a story that will feature a few of Hollywood’s hottest young lady stars such as Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson. They are a set of trouble making and sexy college hotties determined to make their mark on the spring break scene, no matter what the cost. James Franco steps way out of character in a role that you will need to see to believe. Franco is almost unrecognizable as he losses himself in a roll that shocks and surprises.

A highly anticipated horror movie remake will have a special showing at SXSW this year. The anticipated redo of the 1981 cult horror favorite makes its world debut at the festival. The story will replace the antiquated graphics of the original to tell a similar story of a group of five friends who discover “The Book of the Dead” and then have to fight evil forces to survive.

Stephen Finnigan will showcase his world premier documentary “Hawking.” It tells the story of Stephen Hawking in his own words and the words those closest to him and those who admire his mind. This is an inspirational portrait of icon that shows both his glorious gift and his very human side. He is a hero that faces death every day, but never stops trying to make more remarkable scientific discoveries. It’s a story that has been untold for far too long.

“Don Jon’s Addiction” is the festival favorite from director, writer, and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who gets the best talent from his actors Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, and Tony Danza in the story of unsatisfying love life of a modern day lothario. His journey of personal discovery leads him into two very different relationships with two very different lovely women.

Outside of the big Hollywood productions, there will be plenty of faces that are familiar to you in the rest of the films. See as many as you can and spot your favorites. Look out for acting appearances in various projects from stars such as Dermot Mulroney, Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon, Matthew McConaughey, Sam Shephard, Michael Rapaport, Ethan Embry, David Koechner, Sienna Miller, Melanie Griffith, Ray Liotta, Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel, Edward James Olmos, Harry Connick Jr and Paul Walker.

There are multiple genre’s represented in the various Narrative film showings during the festival. You’ll find heavyweight drama, dark and scary thrillers, emotional family melodramas and knee slapping comedies in this year’s festival. There is quite literally something for everyone in the various narrative features and shorts.
Fans of comedies will want to see “Grow Up, Tony Phillips” this year. This follows a high school senior who is overly obsessed with his favorite holiday, Halloween. Tony’s friends have outgrown the holiday and leaves Tony feeling like a left out loser. Is Tony the outsider, or is he ahead of the curve?

You’ll also laugh a lot at the dramedy titled “Drinking Buddies”. Olivia Wilde and Jake Johnson portray two very good friends who are so closely similar in their likes and desires that when the beer starts flowing, these two friends become decidedly more than friends despite the fact that they are both in relationships with others.
“Maladies” is a dramatic comedy from the internationally acclaimed and multi-talented director, Carter. The artistic genius casts James Franco as a former actor who tries to make a difficult transition to writing with the help of his sister and his best friend and talented artist, played by Catherine Keener.

“The Bounce Back” will be a must see comedy as it is set in the middle of the familiar Austin, Texas nightlife scene. Bryan Poyser presents this outrageous comedy story that centers on a love rectangle of four very engaging characters. It’s a well written and acted back and forth and even the characters at times don’t know if they are following their hearts or their instincts for revenge.

“Holy Ghost People” is an exciting thriller from director Mitchell Altieri. It shows a protagonist who seeks the help of an alcoholic ex-marine to track down and rescue her missing sister. The unlikely pair a strange Appalachian preacher and his even stranger congregation will face off with our heroes as they slowly uncover the fate of the missing girl.

Another must see film in the Visions category is suspenseful drama starring Jena Malone and Chloe Sevigny as sisters differently interpret information from a psychic as they attempt to struggle with the tragic loss of their recently deceased mother, in “The Wait.” In true Visions fashion, you’ll struggle yourself to understand what is reality and what is virtual reality.

Documentary films are always a favorite for festival goers and also a favorite place for documentary filmmakers to get honest and instant feedback from audiences. The subjects of the documentary films in this year’ film festival is as varied as ever.
“An Unreal Dream” from director Al Reinhert, showcases convicted murder suspect, Michael Morton. It shows his 25 years of emotional struggle of being imprisoned for a violent crime that he didn’t commit. His wife was brutally murdered in front of their child and he was convicted for the murder. Despite not being a high profile case, a dedicated team of DA’s worked to uncover evidence to exonerate the wrongly accused man. Despite being freed, you find out what was truly lost during his 25 years behind bars.

Alex Winter, known to fans from “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, takes a turn behind the camera. Winter tells the story of Napster from its beginnings in the late 1990s to its biggest heights and its legal battles and downfall. It goes into the creation of the empire and the teenage hackers that sparked one of the biggest debates in entertainment history.

A beautiful and heart wrenching story is told in Petra Costa’s festival entry from Brazil titled “Elena”. The story is about the title character that travels from her native Brazil to go to New York to seek fame as an actress. It follows Elena and her seven year old sister that she leaves behind. The story of that sister, twenty years later, is engaging and emotionally suspenseful. Petra is in New York to seek a career as well and the sister’s eventually find that they are not the same people that knew each other at home.

Dan Hunt, the documentary veteran, brings a different kind of hero to the screen at SXSW with his film, “Mr. Angel.” The story is about a true pioneer in a very different kind of career. Buck was born a female but always knew that he was trapped in the wrong body. The inner conflict nearly claimed his life but he turns things around despite objections from everyone to become a trans male porn star and educator. It’s an inspirational story with an unlikely subject.

The biggest attractions for true SXSW festival buffs are the Documentary Feature and Narrative Feature competitions. To qualify for these categories, the film needs to make its world premiere at the festival. Each of these films had to pass a more than rigorous selection process to make this elite final group.

The final eight selections for the Documentary Feature category were chosen from 905 submitted films and the lineup appears to be a great one. For the big eight the documentary subjects include a recluse who joins a dirt bike gang, a revered and misunderstood poet and filmmaker, a cocktail era bartender, an indie record pioneer, and a group of seven year old golf wunderkinds. That is just the tip of the iceberg this year.

Here are the eight films that are in the running:

“12 O’clock Boys” by director Lofty Nathan.

“Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton” by directors Stephen Silha and Eric Slade.

“Hey Bartender” by director Douglas Tirola

“Los Wild Ones” by director Elise Salomon

“The Short Game” by director Josh Greenbaum

“Touba” by director E.Chai Vasarhelyi

“We Always Lie to Strangers” by directors AJ Schnack and David Wilson

“William and the Windmill” by director Ben Nabors

The final eight selections for the Narrative Feature category were chosen from a field of 1191 eligible submissions. Each of the eight works present compelling stories and characters. The stories include one of a young man returning to his hometown of Oakland after a two year prison sentence, a troubled young writer with an unexpected visitor, estranged brothers who are forced to reunite when the inherit their father’s home, a young worker at a foster-care facility who struggles with her own past, and a small town Texan who becomes the primary care giver to his handicapped son.

The eight films that made the final list for the Narrative Feature competition are:

“Awful Nice” by director Todd Sklar

“Burma” by director Carlos Puga

“Improvement Club” by director Dayna Hanson

“LICKS” by director Jonathan Singer-Vine

“The Retrieval” by director Chris Eska

“Short Term 12” by director Destin Daniel Cretton

“Swim Little Fish Swim” by directors Ruben Amar and Lola Bessis

“This is Where We Live” by directors Josh Barrett and Marc Menchaca.

All 16 of these films nominated for the top prizes are sure must see films for film festival patrons. With the round the clock schedule, not everyone can view every film this March at SXSW. Whether you are in attendance this year or not, take note of the very best that this festival is offering this year. There is something for everyone, so find something for yourself. You’ll come out of the experience loving film, music and filmmaking more than you ever knew that you could.

The expansion is expected to bring in twice as many people working for the company than it has seen in the last several years. MindBOX Productions was on hand to film Yodle’s ribbon cutting event.

MindBOX Productions is a production company that is based in Austin, Texas. They provide top-notch photography, videography and other multimedia productions for all types of clients. MindBOX Productions aims to keep up with changing technology while using quality equipment.

MindBOX Productions has over 20 years experience in the multimedia industry. They have worked with a wide array of companies from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

The ribbon was cut by Yodle’s CEO Court Cunningham while the employees chanted “We are family”. Mayor Leffingwell of Austin and other prominent leaders of the community were also present at the ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony celebrated the company’s grand opening of their new offices in Austin. A catered BBQ spread was also available to the employees at the new office. The 100,000 square feet offices are located south of Yager Lane off of Interstate 35.

Previously, Yodle had 3 separate offices for the Austin employees but opted to expand to a larger facility with extra room to grow. Gordon Borrell, a CEO of a media consulting firm, stated that Yodle has the right approach towards online marketing. He goes on to say that the company views the Internet in terms of effectiveness and not as a means of advertising.

Yodle helps small businesses increase their presence online for an affordable cost. They also help clients through the steps of search engine optimization and find their leads through them. The company has a total of 375 employees that work at the Austin offices. These positions mainly deal with services to clients and managing sales. In the next 5 years, Yodle plans to hire an additional 750 people from the Austin area. With the introduction of more jobs, it is expected that $100 million dollars will be invested into the local economy. The new jobs may include human resource, technical and marketing positions, as well.

Yodle is among the nation’s fastest growing companies because they have figured out exactly what the advertising companies want. Yodle ultimately helps small businesses set up and run their own social media platforms. The company uses search engine optimization tools and techniques to help their customers find patterns and develop marketing strategies.

Yodle currently has about 30,000 consumers total. More than ¾ of all consumers use the Internet in order to find local businesses and services. In response to this Yodle has earned a special place in the online market by tailoring their marketing strategy towards Internet users. Most of Yodle’s customers are small businesses with less than 10 employees.

Yodle’s projected revenue for 2012 is $130 million which is twice as much as they were making last year. Their technique is to invest in strong areas and not in things that are unstable or may lose popularity quickly. Yodle’s employee salaries are not disclosed but it has been noted that they can make up to six figures annually, sometimes earning more than the CEO of the company. Employees get other benefits such as free lunches and free massages for those who do the best work.

Yodle came to Austin last May when they acquired ProfitFuel. ProfitFuel was a search engine optimization company that mainly helped out small businesses with their online media ventures. Since the merger, 200 more employees joined the Yodle team. The company chose to expand in Austin due to the large amount of hard working and pleasant people that live there who aren’t afraid of taking business risks. Employees of Yodle have high-energy, good work ethics and a positive attitude. Mayor Leffingwell states that Yodle’s presence in Austin is a good thing and that the city will support Yodle as it grows as a business.

Before opening offices in Austin, Yodle had already set up shops in Charlotte, New York, Boston and Scottsdale. This new expansion in Austin will help make way for new and dedicated employees.

Yodle is expected to grow rapidly over the next decade and provide many new jobs for the area. The new Austin offices are currently looking to fill several positions. There will be a sale information session held at the new office at 6pm on September 20.

Here Are 5 Reasons Why You Should Host Your Web Video On YouTube.

YouTube is the most popular site for sharing videos on the Web. It is the most visited website for entertainment and information. Nearly all the videos posted are produced by amateurs. However, the number of professional clips is increasing as businesses become aware of the power it brings to their online marketing. Today, YouTube is the hottest platform for companies to reach potential customers. Hosting a video on YouTube brings tremendous advantages, including:

1. Free hosting. Companies can host their videos at no cost. All they have to do is to set up an account and create a channel. Then, they can upload and post. As a free tool to market products and services, YouTube attracts many popular brands and companies as they can leverage the powerful features. According to YouTube, the site is visited by more than 800 million unique visitors each month. In 2011, the site received more than one trillion views. Thus, the large number of visits has prompted many businesses to use YouTube.

2. Easy to embed videos. This is one of the popular features that attract users. The ability to embed videos on any site, including blogs and social media, encourages businesses to use YouTube. All users have to do is to select the embed feature to allow others to copy and paste the HTML code into their blogs, and websites. By allowing viewers to embed, they can share video content with their friends, fans and followers. As a result, their videos often turn viral.

3. Global access to Videos. YouTube is available everywhere and at any time. By uploading videos into YouTube, users can view them anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. The tremendous use and popularity of mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, has increased the number of viewers. What is more, a company’s website will save in bandwidth as it does not have to host the video.

4. Creates brand awareness. Without a doubt, using YouTube to host web videos helps businesses to promote and publicize their products and services. As an interactive medium, business owners can promote their business through entertaining and informative videos. At the same time they can include a soft-sell approach to put their brand name and product image in the minds of viewers. As a result, viewers may become intrigued and visit the company’s website to learn more about their products and services.

5. Increases find-ability. Using YouTube to host videos increase the business opportunity to strengthen its online presence. Just like other social media networking sites, like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn, YouTube is used by the major search engines as a social signal to help rank the site in the search results page. For instance, when videos are transcribed or accompanied by written content, have a large number of visitors, and are shared by many blogs and websites, the search engines will rank the video high in the search results. When this happens, online users will find the company easily on the Web.

Hosting a video on YouTube saves money and time. Business owners can focus on producing remarkable videos to attract potential customers to visit their website. By using YouTube to host their videos, they can turn visitors into leads and finally, convert them into customers.

There are endless business benefits from using the visual medium of videos. Graphical processes for videos can vary, depending upon whether green screen, motion, live action or 3D animation techniques are employed. However, regardless of which method is used, the steps are essentially the same.

Collaborative Planning

Initial discussions are critical at the start of any video project. During this time, clients describe the motivation behind the project so that expert videographers can decide upon a plan of action. Much in the same way that a film director works with a writer or crew, the message is distilled along with the purpose of the project.

For example, with regard to corporate videos, messages and overviews are generally 90 seconds long. This aspect would be taken into consideration in plan development. The main focus of these discussions is to determine the essence of what is actually necessary to get the point across quickly.

Not only will these in-depth discussions save production time, but viewer’s time as well. Once the discussions have concluded, producers can create a concept to present that is believed to encompass all that the client wants to achieve with the message.

Content Development

During the content development phase the material is crafted and fleshed out to express the message thoroughly. For example, perhaps a client is launching a new product or redeveloping an existing service. The scripting process includes telling the story and educating an audience. The words and actions will drive the live action or animation viewed on screen.

The final phase of content development is the client approval. Before moving on toward technical activities it is critical that the script is approved, since costly delays can occur when adjustments and new material needs to be developed.

Production

During the production phase, the following activities usually occur:

Music Selection

Voice Over

Photography

Filming

In addition, many projects may require a combination of storyboarding, animatics and style frames. However, some projects merely require animatics and style frames.

Editing

One of the most important and time consuming aspects of the entire video production process is editing. This is where the project is carefully key framed to ensure that it communicates the message conceptually, directly and succinctly.

Final Touches

Part of final editing process includes revisions and tweaks. Regardless of how much planning is done, there are usually a few minor details that may need adjusting. By this point, clients typically require minor detail changes, such as for:

Audio Mastering

Additional Sound Effects

Final Coloring

Miscellaneous Small Changes

Final Delivery

Once the project is approved, the final files are set for the full resolution rendering. This process may take from an hour or so to a few days, depending upon the scene complexity. For the most part, rendering and compressing video productions and motion graphics for delivery typically take a few hours at the most.

However, technology has made it possible to get through the process quickly, using state-of-the-art networked machines, so that time is always as minimal as possible.

Producing corporate videos or TV or webmercials is much easier when the process is understood. In this way, an expert production team can ensure that the client’s vision is expressed in the most accurate and professional way possible.

From entertainment to product launches and corporate training and messages, the power of video is undeniable. The information above should provide a good picture on what to expect before, during and after the video production process.
